“To dance, to dream, to dream of dancing, dancing to a dream…”

There was some uncanny pull that brought me to the doorstep of Planet Salsa one fine evening in September 2009. After observing a class in progress, I was very apprehensive – Would I be able to cope with the rigours? How would I ever remember the steps of what looked like a very tricky and technically intricate dance form? How would the youngsters in the class, many of who were less than half my age, feel about partnering with me? I remember asking whether there was another batch with “slightly older people”, and Bhupendra Sir’s reply that age was only in the mind.. The rest is history. I decided to give it my best shot, and so began my journey of rediscovering myself. I have found great joy in every ‘dancing moment’ spent at Planet Salsa. The environment of camaraderie and helping each other learn ensures that everyone gets ample support and encouragement from everyone else in the class. It is amazing to see the level of proficiency attained in a mere 20 days. I am myself a teacher by profession, and I admire the ability of Bhupendra Sir to motivate and encourage. He not only has very high expectations from all his students and expects perfection, but also raises the bar each time we get there! When I look back, I am amazed at how much I have been able to stretch! For me, dancing goes beyond the steps and moves. It has been a deeply spiritual quest for discovering my own self, rejuvenating the soul and moving mental boundaries to attain a state of inner peace. Planet Salsa has been my haven. It is a place for all those who love to dance, in a space which is joyful and pulsating with life, or want to simply raise their level of life and living.
